True Measure / Compare proposals

Compare website quotes on the same terms

Record scope, responsibilities and unresolved costs beside each proposal.

Use paper or your own notes for answers and checklist marks. No answers are collected or saved on this page.

Start with the work you need

A headline price gives you one number. This worksheet helps you record what each proposal actually includes, what you would need to supply, and what remains unanswered. Use the written proposal as your evidence. If something is missing, mark it “unclear” rather than assuming it is included.

Print a copy for each provider, then complete the short comparison at the end. This is a way to organize questions, not a recommendation to choose the lowest price.

The three things this website must let customers do:

1. Match the scope

For each item, write included, extra, not offered, or unclear. Add the relevant proposal page or section.

On narrow screens, scroll each table sideways to read every column. Use Tab to focus a table and the arrow keys to scroll.

Item to compareStatus and exact deliverableProposal reference / question
Pages, page types, and features
Writing and content entry
Photos, graphics, and other assets
Mobile layout and agreed testing
Contact forms and delivery testing
Existing content and URL handling
Revisions and approval stages
Training, handover, and support

What must we supply, and by when?

What does “finished” mean in this proposal? What will we check before acceptance?

2. Make the cost picture explicit

Record amounts and billing terms exactly as quoted. Ask whether a deposit is part of the project price so you do not count it twice.

Cost or termAmount / timing / what is covered
One-time project charges
Recurring charges and billing frequency
Required third-party services or licences
Changes outside the agreed scope
Minimum term, renewal, and exit charges
Known first-12-month total and start date
Costs still unknown

Who confirmed the total, and where is it written?

3. Compare the decision, not just the numbers

Fictional example: One proposal says “five pages, client-supplied copy.” Another includes interviews and writing. Record the writing difference before treating the prices as equivalent.

Read the result

A lower total with unresolved essentials is not yet a complete comparison. Send the same specific questions to each provider and ask for the answers in writing. Resolve ownership, access, and exit questions with the Website ownership and handover checklist.

Source note

This is an original comparison framework, not a market-price guide or contract review. It makes no claim about which provider, payment model, or quoted price is best. The proposals and written clarifications you enter are the evidence for your comparison.
