So we read a lot of websites with our engine, the program that does the reading, and we note where each one is. That is what will let a firm be compared with its own trade, not with some general standard nobody set. We do not yet compare one firm with its own trade.
This page is the public record. How big the list is, what it can answer now, and where it is still too thin to say a thing.

The three rings
Three questions, asked of one collection.
Every website we can place on a map sits in all three rings at once. The 9,886 we cannot place sit only in the state and country rings. Nothing is judged against a general standard, only against firms doing the same work.
Within 50 miles
The firms a customer might pick instead of you. We draw this circle around the center of your town, not around ours. For a roofer in Naples it covers Collier, Lee and half of Charlotte. For a plumber in Miami it holds nothing in Cape Coral.
Your state
Every firm in your trade we have read in your state. Wider than your rivals, close enough that the rules, the seasons and the buyers still look like yours.
The country
Every firm in your trade we have read anywhere. This ring only answers once we have read your trade in more than one state. Until then it says so.
Why the miles are real
We use the town a firm prints on its own page, or the town on its map listing when the page gives none we can read. Town centers are approximations; near the ring boundary a firm may sit a few miles inside or outside.
We never ask a visitor where they are, and a ring uses only a firm's town.
A county is not close enough. A county center can sit thirty miles from the front door.

A trade we have no name of our own for is named from the category those businesses have on OpenStreetMap, the free public map where we found them.
A ring needs 5 websites like yours before it will place you at all, and 30 before it adds a percentile, the share of those firms that scored below you. Both minimums are written into the code that builds every ring.

Under 5 websites like yours there is no ranking at all. Telling someone they came second out of two is a true sentence that tells a lie. It is also the easiest number in this trade to sell. The tool refuses.
It will not give a percentile off a thin group
Under 30 you get a place and never a percentage. A percentile drawn from eleven firms can move eight points when one more firm turns up. That is a fact about our list, not about your market.
It will not guess where a firm is
If we cannot read a firm's town off its own website or its map listing, it gets no local ring. The other option is to place it in the middle of its county. That can be thirty miles from the door, and a thirty mile error in a fifty mile circle is not a measure of anything.
It will not call one state "the country"
If every website we have read in a trade sits in one state, the national ring says so and gives no number. Calling a Florida-only list a national comparison is the exact overclaim this business exists to refuse.
Why this page shows coverage and no scores
In September 2026 we fixed our engine. It could see only one of four common ways that tracking code lands on a page. Tracking code is the snippet an analytics or advertising company puts on a page to count visitors.
Every reading taken before that fix came from a different tool, and the list is being read again now. A count of how many sites we have read is not affected by that. An average of their scores would be. So those figures stay off this page until every reading comes from one tool.
The middle scores and grade counts we do publish are on the benchmark, where the same list is read on a schedule.
Where this stands
This is a record, not a ranking.
The rings are drawn from the collection behind the free inspection and the census. They exist and they run. We publish no ranking until our engine computes one, and this page will say so when it does.
What you can do today is have your own website read. Same engine, same refusal to guess, and it costs nothing.
